Pumpkin Patch Fun

For the past few years we have been going up to Graves Mountain for the Apple Festival with our cousins/best friends to kick off the fall but this year we decided to change things up and go to the Pumpkin Patch instead!  Some people think change is a bad thing but in this case, it definitely was not! The kids had a blast because there was so much more to do at the Pumpkin Patch and I am pretty sure that the adults had just as much fun as the kids did!  I brought my camera along with me and couldn't decide what photos to share, so here's a photo overload from our adventure!

So serious!
He was not interested in smiling for the camera...
Pumpkins!
The farm that the Pumpkin Patch was at had a CORN BOX!  It. Was. Amazing!  The kids Everyone loved it and had a blast playing, swimming, and being covered up in the corn. Colt and Everett really liked to jump from the side into the corn!

Since the farm had some great scenery and props we had to try to get some family photos and shots of the boys... we may or may not have been too successful...

As you can see... they didn't want to sit still for photos!

Happy fall y'all! :)

FBP: Resolved (February)

This year I resolved to creating monthly goals rather than yearly resolutions in hopes that I will stick to them and create better habits.  This month's goal was to go on a date with my husband- just my husband! This is a big thing for the two of us because we were always used to taking the boys with us when we went out.  The first time that Tyler and I went out without Everett was when I was pregnant with Nolan and we actually went to a Fredericksburg Family Birth Circle meeting! Now, we are able to get away every once in a while with just Nolan in tow but since Nolan was born we haven't taken the time to go out without our children.
We received a gift card to Old Towne Steak and Seafood for Christmas and this past weekend we were happy to put it to good use! I called about a month ahead and made our reservation, then all we had to do was wait for the day to roll around. Well, the days have this funny habit of coming faster and faster and before we knew it, our date night was here! The boys were very excited about us going out because Rae Rae and Pig Paw (my parents) were coming over to babysit.

When we got to the restaurant we were seated right away which made me happy that I called ahead and made the reservation! Tyler and I were seated and continued our conversation that we had started in the car.  Throughout the evening we were able to freely talk without having to break to pick up someone, change a diaper, play cars, etc.  We have been together since 2004 and even after almost ten years we can still talk all through the night! I am so thankful that we took the time to go out on a date, even though we LOVE our kids it is really nice to take the time to reconnect with each other.  When we got home the kids were quite excited to see us and we were excited to see them as well! Everett told us all about what he did while we were gone and Nolan was especially happy to see me so he could nurse.
Have you ever taken time to go out with your spouse?  Do you think that it is something that should be a priority for couples? This is something that Tyler and I would like to start doing on a monthly basis, even if it is just to grab some ice cream at Carl's.

Thirty Days of Thankful: Day Twelve

I'm taking some time every day this month to jot down something that I am thankful for.  Feel free to post a comment below each day with what you are thankful for or post a link to your own Thirty Days of Thankful

Day Twelve
I am thankful for the beautiful colors that God is painting with these past few days!  The sunsets have been AMAZING and the changing of the leaves is so beautiful.  Some days I am in awe of how pretty our earth really is.

Thirty Days of Thankful: Day Two

I'm taking some time every day this month to jot down something that I am thankful for.  Feel free to post a comment below each day with what you are thankful for or post a link to your own Thirty Days of Thankful

Day Two
I am thankful for my best friend and soul mate- Tyler.  We met over 12 years ago, started dating 9 years ago,  were engaged 7 years ago, and have been married for over 5 years.  I am so happy that God put this wonderful man in my life.  We have been through a lot in our almost decade together and all of it has just brought us closer together.  I can not imagine someone better to be the father of my children, my protector, my support, and my friend.  He knows how to make me laugh and he knows what how to comfort me when I am down.   Tyler thinks I am beautiful even when I don't feel that way - and he makes sure to tell me every chance he gets.  I am grateful for every single day that we have together and pray that there will be many many more. :)

Peanuts and Cracker Jacks

Tyler works for a really great company, so great that they take all their employees out to National's Park every summer to see the Nat's play! This is such a treat because both Tyler and I love going to baseball games and hope the boys will love it as much as we do.

This was one of our first "big outings" with both of the boys and it went pretty great.  We took plenty of snacks for Everett and brought the ergo so that I could wear Nolan.  We took the stroller for Everett to ride in to/from the car and it was a nice place to put all of the junk that we have to have with us at all times.

The boys made it through almost the entire game and Everett had a blast playing with Tyler's coworkers.  We were sitting in the President's box (behind home plate) so we had a full lunch buffet before the game as well as ball park style snacks during the game! Everett loved this because it meant as much food as his little toddler heart desired!

Check out the photos from the day!

Our (really hot and sweaty) family!

We were so close!

Best picture of Everett EVER!!

Please disregard the chicken nugget I am trying to hide behind my back...

What a Guy!

What a wonderful man my husband is!  Tyler and I have been married for five years today! FIVE! I am so proud to call him my husband, best friend, and father of my children.  When Tyler and I first started this journey nine years ago I'll be honest, I don't think either of us thought we would end up here end up where we are now.

We met in high school freshman year and ran in the same circle as each other. At the end of our junior year were pushed together by a mutual friend (thanks Louis) and I am so thankful for that!  We continued to date throughout our senior year and the next fall we both started school but at different universities.  I went down to Texas to go to Abilene Christian University and Tyler stayed in Virginia and attended George Mason University.  We decided to try the long distance and stay together.  At one point during that first semester I started to question if Tyler and I were really "meant to be" or not.  After a lot of discussion and some hard conversations we ultimately decided that we wanted to make our relationship work.  After the first semester, I transferred to George Mason University to be closer to my family and to Tyler.
Toga party, 2007
On Valentines Day in 2006 Tyler took me out to breakfast at the Silver Diner and afterward he took me down to Hurkamp Park, in Fredericksburg.  While we were there he explained that he wanted me to see something from his past (Silver Diner), something from our past (Hurkamp Park), and that now he wanted to start our future.  That was when he dropped down on one knee and asked me to marry him.  The funniest part of the whole morning was when he was on one knee there was a cable guy driving by and he rolled down his window and yelled "SAY YES" and I of course said yes (after I stopped crying!)
06/07/2008
Fast forward a few years and we had gotten married, graduated from college, and settled down back in Fredericksburg, Virginia.  We both started "big kid" jobs and were living the married life.  When we were in college we attended Fairfax Community Church and both really enjoyed it but when we moved south we didn't take the time to find a church that we both connect with.  Tyler wasn't happy with the church we were attending and at times I had to literally beg him to go with me which I wasn't happy about.  I honestly did not understand why he couldn't make it work.  I was stubborn and didn't want to change churches because I loved the people there.  I prayed and prayed about it and realized that I wasn't allowing God to be the center of Tyler and I's marriage.  I kept pushing and pushing Tyler to be the person I thought he was supposed to be rather than allowing God to shape my heart.  When I stopped trying to control every thing and allowed God to work in my life and take control our marriage drastically changed for the better.  We found a church that we both love and really connect with (Mount Ararat) and Tyler really became the spiritual leader of our family that I had always wanted him to be.

On Tuesday this week, Tyler sent me the following text:
He has been working on reading all the way through the Bible and he just finished it! Wow! What an awesome achievement.  He continually amazes me with his love for God and how he is leading our family to be Christ centered.

I am so thankful for the journey that Tyler and I have had thus far and am so happy that we have each other.
Loving life!
I love you Tyler! :)  Happy anniversary!

Agenda: Visit Yorktown, Virginia
Our first stop was the beach at Yorktown.
Not sure about the sand.
Eating lunch at the Yorktown Pub.
Our view at lunch!
Of course we had to stop at Ben and Jerry's for some ice cream!
Tyler talking to George Washington and Francois de Grasse.
Everett wasn't so sure about G-Dub...
... until Tyler showed him how to pick his nose.
We even got to see our Congressman's district office
-which was pretty cool because I used to be an intern  in his Capitol Hill office!
Where is Everett?
There he is!
Daddy and Everett!
Passed out on the way back to the hotel!
Get in my belly! Dinner at Rocco's Smokehouse Grill
Everett agreed that it was delicious!

Of course we had to get a picture with the bear...

Agenda: Busch Gardens Theme Park
The best way to start the day!
On the trolley from the parking lot to the main entrance! Everett LOVED this!
Our first stop was the Sesame Street Forest of Fun!

Everett and daddy in "Oscar's Yucky Forest"
Everett really wanted to ride the Whirly Worms ride, but HATED it once it started moving!
Mommy and Everett on "Bert and Earnies Loch Adventures"
Next, we headed over to the train station. Everett thought the train was ah-mazing!
Waiting for the train!
Our next stop was the Land of the Dragons.
Checking it out.

Way up high in the tree house!
Can you find them?
Everett was stoked about the "moo moos" (that's what he calls horses)
but he wasn't excited to be on the Lil' Clydes once it got going!
After we were done playing we rode the sky tram across the park.
Everett wasn't so sure about it.
View from the tram.
The roller coasters we didn't ride! :)
The Kinder Karussel was more Everett's style!
I guess E was bored in the line for funnel cakes!
We caught the "Sunny Days Celebration" show before we left the park.
A rare family portrait!
Ernie, Everett, and Daddy!
Daddy, Everett, and Big Bird!
Everett was worn out on the way back to the car.
We didn't even make it out of the parking lot before he fell asleep!
After E's nap, we headed over to Second Street Restaurant for some dinner.
I highly recommend getting the Grilled Pork Ribeye
Cheesing for the camera!

Agenda: Easter egg hunt in the hotel room, Colonial Williamsburg
Hidden Easter eggs!
Looks like the Easter bunny found us!
Everett was quite interested in what was in the eggs!
Sorting his eggs.
Everett hunting his Easter eggs.

A collection of all our informational pamphlets!
Our next stop was supposed to be Colonial Williamsburg but it was pouring rain!
We did get a chance to check out the visitors center and play in the gift shop!
Everett and daddy with their guns!
Everett even got to "protect" a Colonial dressed woman! :)
So that was our trip! We had a great time hanging out with Everett and spending some quality time together. I definitley think that we will be visiting Williamsburg again soon, especially to check out the Colonial part! :) Have any of you ever visited the Williamsburg area? How did you like it?
