Cartwheels

We're in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware at Grandma's house for family vacation with Tyler's mom, step-dad, and sisters. We are so excited to be here and to spend time with our family.  We love being here and being able to relax and just be together.

We also have our "favorite" things that we like to do while we are here too. We already made it to Nicola's and had a Nicaboli! So delish! Next stop will be the Sea Shell Shop to go putt-putt golfing and one day this week we will go to the boards, the beach, and to Fun Land.

One of my favorite parts of being at Grandma's house is when we all sit out side around the same time every day and enjoy a cool adult beverage. While the "silver cokes" are a nice treat, the part I particularly like is chatting with everyone and taking in the view of the bay.

While we were out chatting today, Riley was practicing her cheer moves and wanted help learning how to do a cartwheel.  Of course Jordan and I, both former cheerleaders stepped up to help teach her.  Little did we know that Tyler's mom, Teresa would bust out her cartwheel moves!  (Yes, it was a pretty awesome cartwheel!)

So you never know what is going to happen when you're at Grandmas!

Car Seat Woes: Update

A few months ago I posted about Everett's issues with the car seat.. he pretty much hated being in it all the time.  It was such a struggle to go anywhere because he was always upset when he was in the car.

I knew that I didn't want to turn his car seat forward facing just yet but I just couldn't bare to make Everett ride in that car seat unless it was absolutely necessary. I started doing some research and thought that maybe we should try a tv.  I know, I know you aren't supposed to let your kiddo watch tv until they are two years old but I figured it was worth a try.

My parents generously gave Mr. Everett a dvd player for the car and we quickly set it up.  Wow. Seriously he is content in the car if that thing is on!  I try to put mostly educational type videos on while he is in the car so that at least he is "learning" while he is watching.

For the most part he is a happy camper. If he is tired I have learned that I need to turn off the dvd player and he will usually fall right asleep.

So there you have it folks! :)

Motorcycle Man

I think it is safe to say that this boy loves his daddy's motorcycle! Every time he sees a motorcycle (even if a random stranger is on it) he points to it and practically gouges my eyes out so that he can get to it!

Currently: 8/15/12

Feeling:  Excited, anxious, and happy. There are a few things in the works behind the scenes here at the Thompson household and I am just so in awe at how great God is. Everything seems to just fall into place as long as we (Tyler and I) allow Him to guide us in our lives.  It is so hard to just "let go and let God" but truly truly our lives are so much less complicated and more focused when we allow God to drive and we sit back and enjoy the ride.

ReadingBloom- Finding Beauty in the Unexpected by Kelle Hampton.  I am about 75% done with the book and can not put it down!  Kelle writes her story with such great detail that it makes you feel like you are right there with her.  You can't help but feel some of the emotions that she was going through.  It is a really great read and I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for something to read!  Have you checked out Kelle Hampton's blog Enjoying the Small Things yet?  You should- it's great!

Thinking About: Future tattoo plans.  I know that may sound silly, especially since I just finished up my half sleeve but this girl is a planner at heart!  I want to make sure that the tattoos I have on my body are meaningful (to me) and are beautiful.  I do have a few different ideas running around in my head but not any that are set in stone as of yet.  If you are on Pinterest (add me NotSoAvrgMomma) and then be sure to check out my "Sweet Ink Dude" board to see some things I've pinned. Check these out: I LOVE the placement of this tattoo... what a hilarious idea... sometimes I felt like this lady during my tattoo sessions.  (Never heard of Pinterest? Check out this post.)

Drinking: Water! H2O! This stuff is actually pretty good! I have never been a very big water drinker but due to all of the traveling we have done in the past month I haven't really had time to hit the store which means no juice, tea, etc.  I prefer to drink water VERY cold with lots of ice and occasionally a lemon slice or two.  This is good for me because I know that I should drink water a lot more than I do, especially since all of the drinks these days are filled with high fructose corn syrup, sugar free sweeteners, etc. which are a no-no in the paleo diet lifestyle.

Skipping: Breakfast.  Yeah I know it's the "most important meal of the day" and I know that I should be eating a nice and healthy breakfast but I have just been really busy lately and honestly I forget most of the time.  I know that I feed Everett so I should just should feed myself then but while he is quarantined in the highchair it is the perfect time for me to move laundry, sweep, mop, throw some make up on, etc.  I am hoping to get back on track with the whole "eating breakfast thing" soon.

Listening To: Contemporary Christian radio. I am so encouraged every time I turn on the radio and hear these songs of praise.  The song that I can't get out of my head these days is "More Like Falling in Love" by Jason Gray.  I love the message that the song brings.  Check out the full lyrics here.
"Love, Love
Deeper and deeper
It was love that made me a believer
In more than a name, a faith, a creed
Falling in love with Jesus brought the change in me"

Who's that Baby?

Check out this video of Everett from a few weeks ago.  He is HILARIOUS! I can't stop watching it and giggling up a storm! He is so cute!

Lincoln Children's Museum

A few weeks ago Everett and I accompanied Tyler on one of his work trips to Nebraska (at least it was a vacation!)  We were only there for a few days but we were able to make it to the Lincoln Children's Museum which was AMAZING! Seriously, there was so much for Everett to do there! I was worried that it would be targeted more towards older children but he had a blast exploring and climbing on everything!  Check out some pictures from our adventures!

Watch out! Daddy's driving the police cruiser!
Hi Daddy!

E Got Mail

Check out what Everett got in the mail the other day- a birth letter from the President and First Lady!
It says:

"Welcome to the world! Your arrival is a cause for great celebration for your proud family.  We wish you a long and happy life filled with chances to learn, ideas to explore, people to love, and dreams to fulfill.

How cool is that?

Confession- I forgot to send his birth announcement to them when he was born! Shhh don't tell Everett! Luckily the date isn't stamped on this so we're good!  I am planning on making a shadow box that will have his coming home outfit, hospital bracelets, birth announcement, and this letter in it!  Stay tuned for that!

Lessons from the Mount: Final Recap

If you have been reading the Sermon on the Mount with me this past month, THANK YOU! It has been a long month of reading but well worth it!  I am encouraged from all of the reading that I have done because it has helped me to remember how wonderful God's love for us is.  So much has been happening for Tyler, Everett, and I this past month and I can truly truly see God's hand in all of it.

I hope that you will continue to read in God's word daily and be encouraged by His love. I hope to have another series from the Bible up soon.  If you have any ideas, thoughts, questions, etc. please feel free to leave a comment here! :)
