I Mustache You a Question...

... but I'll shave it for later! Instead of having favor bags at Everett's party I decided to set out a bunch of fun things for the kids (and adults) to play with while they were at the party and then take home with them.  I made a bunch of mustaches and they were a hit!
Noise makers, bubbles, water guns, sheriff badges, chalk, and mustaches!
Being silly!
Even CowBear is rocking the 'stache!

Lions and Tigers and Bears

I guess this post should really be called: Elephants and Zebras and Birds because that's all we really got to see at the zoo yesterday!
They weren't being very social.
Just playing around!
I'm not sure what this is...
Grandmother, Poppa, Gran/my mom, Lily, Everett, and I all loaded up into the car and headed up to the National Zoo to do some sight animal-seeing before Grandmother and Poppa left to go back home. We had a great time and only shared the same complaint... it was HOT. I mean really hot. Luckily there was a nice breeze and the zoo has the misters set up along the walkways so we were able to sit under walk through those and cool off.

Well at least the adults were looking at the camera!
So pretty!
I love the faces he makes!
My friend Tiphany lent me her double stroller which came in very handy to use! I prefer to "wear" Everett but I don't think that it would have been very comfortable for either of us today.
Oh! What is that?!
Coming through! Beep beep!
ANIMALS!
I think the kids had fun seeing the animals and making all sorts of animal noises. Overall the bird house won the prize for "best toddler attraction," they loved it.  I assume because they could get up nice and close and could see the birds flying back and forth.
She was too excited about the birds!
Umm excuse me but I think you are supposed to stay behind the rail!
So the zoo was a great success and we will definitely be back... in October.

Nap time!

Are You a Bookmark Person?

Photo found Here
Are you someone who uses a bookmark when you read or are you one of those people who just remember what page you left off on? I have been thinking a lot about this lately and how it kind of crosses over into real life (or RL as Tyler calls it).

There are the bookmark people; those who bookmark something that they want to remember. This can be something small like what page of a book you are on or something bigger like writing down your baby's milestones or your anniversary. The second type of person is someone who trusts themselves to remember what they are supposed to remember. This could be something like where you parked your car, when you are supposed to change your oil, etc.

There are definitely pros and cons to both types, and in many ways I think I am a little of each but maybe life would be so much easier as a "full" bookmark person. Imagine not having to think about when you need to change the filters in your house or when you need to schedule your eye exam. It would all be preset in your phone/calendar/PDA/etc. and you would just get a reminder that it was time to do it. The flip side of this is the tedious amount of work that you would have to exert in order to come up with a system that was not confusing and that would be beneficial.

What type of person are you?  Am I missing a type here? Thoughts?

E's First Haircut

Everett needed a haircut...it was a borderline mullet. So Aunt Becca got out her scissors and gave the sweet boy a trim. She didn't take much off, just enough. :)

Sitting patiently
Crazy boy!

I probably wont be able to go through all the pictures and edit them until late this week but here's a preview of the pictures from the party!  We all had a blast and Everett loved being the center of attention!

Daily Happenings: 5/26/12

Today was a great day! Tyler, Everett, and I went downtown with Teresa, Tony, and Riley (his mom, step dad, and sister) and with Grandmother and Poppa (my mom's parents).  We grabbed a few pizzas and then walked around to various shops!

Everett with GiGi!
When we got back home Teresa, Grandmother, and I started getting some of the things for dinner and for Everett's birthday party ready.  It was nice to get to hang out with "the girls!"
Pretty Riley
After dinner all three families (Tyler, Everett, and I; Tony, Teresa, and Riley; and Grandmother and Poppa) all went out in the front yard. The kids (Riley and Everett) played in the baby pool and the big kids all played corn hole/tailgate toss.
Grandmother and I
It was a great day! Can't wait until Party Time tomorrow!

Getting Ready

I guess this is E's "pee yew" face!
Party prep is in full swing these days over here at the Casa de Thompson. My mom and I went to the store yesterday so I could buy all of the food for E's Giddy Up Cowboy party! I did some price comparisons and found that Super Walmart had the best deals and they price match! I also had to buy a few things because we are going to have a full house this weekend as both my maternal grandparents and in-laws will be in town!

I was really worried that we weren't going to be able to fit all of the groceries into my moms car, luckily the very nice and very helpful cashier helped us take our 3 carts (1 for my mom and 2 for me) out and finagle a way for them all to fit (with a car seat!) As usual I forgot a few items that I still need to run out and buy but other than that, it was a successful trip.
Max capacity has been reached!
In this fridge (besides our usual groceries/condiments/etc) are the following:
  • 4 different kinds of juices
  • 1 gallon of milk
  • 2 cartons of eggs
  • 1 family size pack of breakfast sausage
  • 1 pack of bacon
  • 1 carton of strawberries
  • 2 whole chickens
  • 1 bag of mixed veggies
  • broccoli/cauliflower/4 bell peppers/carrots/celery (for the party)
  • 12 packs of hot dogs (for the party)
The kitchen table is full too! I don't know where we are going to eat this weekend, but it's all worth it!
Bags upon bags!
Here's the lo-down on what is included in the picture above:
  • 12 packs of hot dogs
  • 5 family size bags of chips
  • 4 table cloths
  • 100 dinner sized paper plates
  • 100 cake sized paper plates
  • 100 dinner sized napkins
  • 100 cake sized napkins
  • 2 large flying disks
  • 2 frisbees
  • 45 bottles of water
  • 80 juice "jugs"
  • Various bowls, platters, etc
  • 50 water guns
  • 50 sheriff badges
  • 20 noise makers
  • 32 balloons
  • 2 packages of streamers
There are probably a few things that I have forgotten! I have a nice long to-do list made for the party! Can't wait till it's party time!
Being cute as can be!

Daily Happenings: 5/22/12

Here's a look at Everett's birthday in pictures! "Aunt" Jess and "Uncle" Danny came over to celebrate with Lily (Everett's friend), Everett, and I.
In typical fashion, the day started with E playing with the toilet!
Oh fun stuff!
Wearing his birthday bib!
My birthday boy!

We made a stop at the mall food court- the kiddos ate before we got there but they enjoyed some nice H20 while we ate!

Mmmmm!
I am one!
After we ate we headed over to the play area at the mall so Lily and Everett could run around and "get the sillies out!" They had a blast!
She is so cute!
CHEESE!
Aww best buddies!
Birthday boy!
After everyone had fun running around the play area we headed over to Build-A-Bear so that Everett could build his birthday present!

First you have to "stuff it"

Now you pick out a heart

Kissing the heart
Tucking it into his bear
Ta-da! He's stuffed!

Next you have to give him a fluff bath!
Lily getting a ride from Uncle Danny!
E with his cowboy bear!
Before we left the mall we had to stop to let the kids ride the "pony" in anticipation for E's Giddy Up Cowboy party this weekend!
All smiles!
Lily on the pony!

Apparently, I was really excited about it!
After we left the mall we headed over to one of Everett's FAVORITE places in the whole world- Carl's Ice Cream. He knows what Carl's is and gets so excited when we get out of the car! The kids both LOVED their ice cream!
Uncle Danny and Everett
Both of them were sitting on the bench like big kids!
Aren't they so cute?!
When we got back home from Carl's it was time for Aunt Jess and Uncle Danny to go. It was so fun to get to see them and have them here to help us celebrate Everett's birthday! Check out Jessica's blog here- you may notice a certain birthday boy featured in her post yesterday!
Love these guys!
We finished up our night at Chick-Fil-A for dinner with Daddy (Tyler), Gran (my mom), and Uncle Jon (my brother). Coincidentally our church (Mount Ararat) was having a fundraiser for a mission trip to France so we were able to "eat for a good cause" and see a lot of our church family, too!

Happy birthday baby big boy!
CHICKEN!
So that's what we did for Everett's birthday- I think we wore him out because he fell asleep around 7:30pm! Crazy boy! :) Thanks to all for the birthday wishes, he is such a wonderful little boy!
