Two Attached

Unless you have been living under a rock somewhere you have probably seen the Time article that came out about a month ago featuring a mom on the cover nursing her three year old son.
Photo found Here
I am happy that Time decided to cover Attachment Parenting (AP) however, like most other people who practice AP will tell you, this cover does not portray the average AP lifestyle. I think that Time did a great job of catching readers attention and then quickly made mothers/fathers/guardians feel like they were not doing the best for their kids if they are not practicing AP.
A response to Time's question "Are you mom enough?"
Before Everett was born there were a few things that I knew I wanted to do, for example I knew I wanted to breastfeed him and I knew that I wanted to be with him as much as possible.  I didn't expect to really change a whole lot after Everett was born but as soon as that little boy was here I would never be the same.

Pretty clever
I definitely did not expect that I would breastfeed Everett past twelve months or co-sleep or wear him every where but there was something deep down inside of me that made all of those things feel so natural.

I love boobies!
I have never been one to "go by the book" and I usually have a pretty relaxed and laid back outlook on life and I think that this has also crossed into my parenting. I try not to get caught up on what percentile Everett is in or if he is keeping up or passing his peers. I just let Everett be Everett and the rest will fall into place.
I would love this bed!
I love baby snuggles.

Everett's got his lawnmower all tuned up and ready to go. Let me know if your lawn is in need of a trim and I'll be sure to send him over! ;)

Get Out There

I love getting out and exploring my local community and I love that Fredericksburg has such a great programs to offer.  This past week we went to Picnic in the Park at Hurkamp Park in Fredericksburg, Virginia.  I went with my friend Christopher (you can see him in this post), Lilly, Everett, and two of Christopher's friends.  We packed a lunch and a blanket and had a great time hanging out under a tree at the park.  The music was great and it was so cute to see all the kiddos dancing around.

My Sister the Superstar

If you know Tyler and I you probably know that we are huge Washington Capitals fans. We have been going to games together for the past four years and really enjoy getting into the games.

What's up Ovi?
So what does this have to do with my sister?  Well, I am proud to "announce" that my sister is a Washington Capitals Red Rocker cheerleader!  She auditioned for this team this past weekend and made the cut! I am so excited for her and to have one more reason to go to more Caps games!

Dear Mother

Dear Mother,

I think I realized today that you really truly are gone and my heart is broken. Each time I think about you I smile and then I realize that our time on earth together has ended and I can't stop the tears from coming. I hold it together most days but alone with my thoughts at night I can't hold the tears back anymore. I know you are at peace and are watching over us but I can't fight the selfish part of me that wants you back. I want you to come back and see what Everett is doing this week and next week and the week after that. I want you to come back so we can spend just one more day together. I don't know how I will ever be able to think of you as just a memory. You were my second Mother. You taught me many things but most of all how to be patient and how to love everyone.
I miss you.

Love,
Daughter
