Thompson Number Two: Week 37

Weight gained to date: 23 lbs

Estimated size of baby: Watermelon (19 to 22 inches long, 6.5 lbs)

Foods I am cravingI have been eating like a bird lately, just small meals here and there. There's not much room for food in there these days!

How I am feeling: Sick! I have a sinus infection, a cough, and an ear infection and it has actually made me happy that I haven't gone into labor yet.  I would hate to have to endure labor and feel like this at the same time! Everett is also getting over an ear and eye infection and has a cough as well! Our house is a germ fest! Luckily Tyler was able to stay home today to help take care of Everett so I can catch up on some much needed rest!

Baby Issac
Doctor's Notes: Still at 1 cm.  My doctor mentioned that she didn't think I would be ready for a few more weeks.  We are planning on doing an ultrasound this week to see what the little mister has been up to in there!

Notes: My best friend, Lilly's mom, and my pregnancy partner (we were pregnant together the first time too) had her baby yesterday morning! Congrats Laurie! Welcome to the world Issac Eason Zumwalt!  Issac was born at 5:31 am on 4/28/2013, weighing in at 8 lbs and measuring 19" long! Check out Nick's blog here for more updates!

Thompson Number Two: To Do List

Since I am only four weeks away from Thompson Number Two's debut I figured I better make a list of things I still need to do in order to be ready for him to be here!

Things to get out of storage
  • Newborn sized clothes
  • 0-3 month sized clothes
  • Infant car seat and bases
  • Arm's Reach Co-Sleeper
  • Various swings and bouncy seats

Things to do
  • Put Flubber's clothes into the dresser
  • Install infant car seat and bases into cars (Graco Snugride 35
  • Install Everett's new car seat (Graco Size4Me 70
  • Pack hospital bag
  • Pack up Everett's "winter" clothes
  • Type up Everett's schedule so that when Tyler and I are at the hospital my mom and Tyler's mom will be able to keep Everett on his "routine"

I am sure that the list will continue to grow as the day gets closer!

Letters to Everett: 4/22/13

Dear Everett,

You are 23 months old now- this is your last month of being a 1 year old! This is also the last month that you will be an only child because your little brother will be here soon.  I am not sure if you are going to like having to share your mommy and daddy but I am sure that you will adjust and be a great big brother. This month we took away your beloved paci's and although at first you resisted, you did really well with the transition.  I am so proud of you!
You had your first real temper tantrum this month and it seems that the "terrible two's" are starting.  We will make it through them, probably with a little frustration but we will be fine!  You are learning more and more words every day and are having less difficulty communicating with us.   You really like saying everyone's names and go down the list (Pig Paw, GaGa, Rae Rae, etc.) about ten times a day.  You also use this as a stalling technique when it is time to take a nap or go to bed.
Daddy and I took you fishing at the city dock this month and you loved it! You have your very own fishing pole and were very excited to use it! You also love buckles and snaps and you make sure that anything that is in need of buckling or snapping gets put together!
We are planning your 2nd birthday party which is going to be a Calliou themed party.  You love (love) love Calliou and are very excited every time you see him on tv.  We are having your birthday party a week or so early this year just in case your little brother makes his debut around the same time as your birthday! We want to make sure that you get to have your party!
You are growing up so fast and are such a joy to have in my life.  I love you so much and enjoy every minute I have with you.  I can't imagine life with out you!

New words you are saying
Tipsy, yabba dabba doo, T-T (Tiphany), ni-ni-ni (no no no), Tonya, cereal, Tawny, me-men (amen), noni (noodle), ya-yo (spaghetti-oh's), tide (outside), trash (crash), couch, bice (bike), down, hat, yee-haw, tweezers, slide, side (outside), pooh-sey (horsey), boo buggy (dune buggy), coo- bus (school bus), kiss, smoothie, Jedi, puter (computer), type, Colt

Momma and daddy love you to the moon and all the way back!

xoxoxox,
Momma

Thompson Number Two: Week 36

I am thinking that
horizontal stripes might
not have been the
best clothing choice! :)
Weight gained to date: 21 lbs

Estimated size of baby: Large cantaloupe (19 to 22 inches long, 6 lbs)

Foods I am craving: Nothing really :)

How I am feeling: I have been having a really weird chest pain for the past few weeks and wasn't sure exactly what it was.  When I talked to the doctor about it last week she said that it was heartburn! I never had any heartburn with Everett and wives tales say that heartburn means your baby is likely to have lots of hair.  So maybe Flubber will come out with a head full of hair- who knows?

Notes: The feelings of "hurry up and come out already" have started but I am trying really hard to relax and enjoy these last few weeks with just one kiddo.   Everett turned 23 months old today and I am realizing that these are my last few weeks with a 1 year old! (Look for my "Letter to Everett" on Wednesday!)

Doctor's Notes: As of last week I am already dilated to 1 cm!  This is fantastic news for me because with Everett I never dilated to anything on my own!  1 cm isn't much (I have to get to 10 cm) but it's a start!

Mouth Watering Wednesday: Nutella Bacon Pancakes

A few days ago my friend Andrew posted on Facebook the following photo:
Now being a lover of bacon and a lover of Nutella (and the fact that I am pregnant probably played helped) I thought that this was a genius idea.  After I got to thinking about my new found food group I thought, what if I took that deliciousness and put it into a pancake? Say what? Yes, it was going to happen.  So with out further ado, here's the recipe...

Here's what you'll need
Here's what you'll do
  • Chop the bacon into bite size pieces
  • Spoon Nutella into a bowl with the bacon pieces (start with a little and add more as needed until all the bacon is coated)
    • Note: if your bacon is still warm this will be easier as it will melt the Nutella
  • Add your Nutella coated bacon to the pancake batter and make your pancakes
  • ENJOY!

Thompson Number Two: Week 35

Weight gained to date: 20 lbs

Estimated size of baby: Large cantaloupe (19 to 22 inches long, 5.5 lbs)

Foods I am craving Nothing really out of the ordinary.. although I almost made a midnight run to Target to get Cosmic Brownies the other day.  If I hadn't been really tired I would probably have done it!

How I am feeling: Still feeling good. Today I got my first "you're about to pop" comment of this pregnancy.  Wahoo!  That's how you know you are getting close folks! :)

Notes: I am starting my weekly visits to the obstetrician this week which can be great if I am progressing but will be a drag if I am not!  Also, we recently took our maternity photos and they turned out so great!  Click here to check 'em out!

No More Paci's!

Our massive collection of paci's-
and I don't even know if this was all of them!
I am over joyed to report that Everett has not had a paci since Thursday March 27th, 2013! I am so glad that I no longer have to remember the paci every time we walk out of the door!  I no longer have to fear the meltdown that would surely have followed if there were no paci presented when asked for one!
Originally I had planned on breaking E's paci habit before we weaned but since he self-weaned I didn't get the chance.  The closer that we got to the baby being here the more anxious I got about Everett still being so dependent on the paci.  I was mostly worried that if Everett still had the paci when Flubber got here then it would be impossible to break the habit since E would see the baby with it all the time.

When we started planning our trip to Williamsburg it got me thinking about using that time to break the paci habit.  There were several pros to doing it while we were out of town: 1.) we would be in a new environment, 2.) we would be busy all day day, 3.) we would hopefully wear Everett out enough so bedtime would be easier, 4.) we didn't have to go to bed/wake up by any certain time.  There were also a few cons: 1.) our "tia" (tv) for the car is broken so we wouldn't have any entertainment for him on the way there and back, 2.) we might have issues with him getting enough sleep/sleeping in while we were on vacation.  Ultimatley we decided to go ahead and see what happens.

Thursday night I went through the entire house and collected all of the pacifiers except for the three (yes three) that he used for sleeping, then when he woke up Friday I added those paci's to the collection.  When we loaded up into the car to go to Williamsburg Everett asked for his paci and we told him that "they don't allow paci's at Williamsburg."  (Yes we lied to our kid- let those without sin cast the first stone!)  The car ride there was rough to say the least.  We waited to leave until his naptime which ended up not working out the way we thought it would... he didn't want to nap until we were almost there.  Once we got there we were pretty good throughout the rest of the day, whenever he would ask we would just tell him that we didn't have any with us and tried to distract him with something else.

We knew the nighttime was going to be rough and we planned for it to be a late night.   Everett brought a few toys with him to bed to play with and we did watch a little tv.  Once he really started to get really tired he was pretty upset about not having the paci but since we bed share we were able to provide love and comfort to Everett throughout this transition.  All in all it took about an hour of playing, tv watching, and some crying for him to fall asleep the first night.

The rest of the weekend went great! Distractions seemed to be the easiest way to keep his mind off wanting a paci during the day.  The second night went really easy which was very nice- he didn't fuss or cry at all.  The trip home was a bit rough but he was tired and I am sure he was pretty bored.  Once we got home he started asking about his paci's again and we told him they were all gone.  I wasn't sure how the first night back at home would go, but it went pretty well.  He wanted his paci's but didn't cry or fuss!

Overall taking away the paci went really really well.  This little boy continues to impress me with how well he does with change!

Oh Baby! Maternity Photos!

This past week my good friend and photographer, Samantha Martin took our maternity photos and I couldn't be happier with how they turned out! (She took Everett's 1 year photos, check those out here!)   They are AMAZING! We started out at home and took a few pictures there and then headed out to a local park to take some outdoors! Enjoy!
